Second announcement

The Symposium on Temperature and Thermal Measurements in Industry and Science is one of the prestigious conferences in the field of the thermal metrology. The aim of the Symposium is to present new techniques of measurement and new results in thermometry, humidity and the measurement of thermophysical quantities. The scope covers all areas from industrial applications and new sensors, to improvements of the kelvin new definition and the fundamental realization of the standards.

Work on the preparation of TEMPMEKO 2016 has continued smoothly and efficiently.

An unusually large number of prospective participants have expressed interest in the Symposium, and the response from authors has been very encouraging. The submitted abstracts have been reviewed and 432 have been accepted for presentation. The authors have been informed about the status of their papers. All revised abstracts will be processed by 29 February.

The abstracts have the following distribution by topic:
- Fundamental aspects and standards
- Temperature methods and sensors
- Humidity and moisture
- Thermophysical quantities and Standard Reference Materials
- Traceability and dissemination
- Applications of temperature and other thermal measurements
- Meteorology and climate.

Abstracts were submitted from all geographical regions of the world.

Five Keynote speakers have been invited by the IPC to present the following lectures:

Roger Atkinson, WMO, Thermal measurements for monitoring climate change,
Boris Khlevnoy, VNIIOFI, Advances and prospects in high temperature radiometry,
Michael de Podesta, NPL, The definition of the kelvin in the new SI: its derivation, implementation and implications,
Jifeng Qu, NMI, The status and future of Johnson noise thermometry,
Gregory Strouse, NIST, Thermal measurement challenges in advanced manufacturing.

At the Symposium the papers will be presented in oral and poster sessions.

The Conference will be accompanied by an exhibition of manufacturers who will present their products.
Several satellite meetings will be organized in conjunction with TEMPMEKO 2016.

Full papers will be eligible for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Thermophysics, subject to meeting the required standards. Please note that the deadline for submission of papers to the IJoT Tempmeko 2016 Special Issue is 30 June 2016. Papers must be submitted directly via the IJoT Editorial Manager website (https://www.editorialmanager.com/ijot/). They will be subject to peer review to ensure that they are of the appropriate quality and interest, and demonstrate a significant scientific or technical advance. Authors should be careful to observe the editorial and other requirements of the journal.

The National Organizing Committee – the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research, of the Polish Academy of Science in Wrocław – warmly invites you to the Belvedere Congress Centre in Zakopane where the Symposium will be held.
We invite you also for a Welcome party, a Barbecue with folk music and a Conference dinner.
The Logistic Organizer – the Trip Group – offers several local tourist visits; a trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine is especially recommend.

More details on the Symposium can be found on the website: www.tempmeko2016.pl

Please note: the Early Registration Fee will finish on 5 March 2016!

We are looking forward to meeting all participants of TEMPMEKO Symposium in Zakopane. New attendees are especially welcome.
